Belatacept increases kidney transplant survival

For kidney transplant recipients, a regimen involving the drug belatacept was found to increase both patient and graft survival 7 years after transplantation. For the study, more than 600 patients were randomly assigned to a more-intensive belatacept regimen, a less-intensive belatacept regimen, or a cyclosporine regimen. Compared with the cyclosporine group, both of the belatacept groups had a 43% reduction in the risk of death or graft loss.
