Maura Healey, the attorney general of Massachusetts, has opened an inquiry into whether Gilead Sciences had violated state consumer protection laws by charging too much for its hepatitis C virus (HCV) drugs. Her action comes on the heels of a lawsuit filed Tuesday by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, seeking to invalidate patents covering the new version of Gilead’s mainstay HIV drug, tenofovir.
