FDA has approved sumatriptan (Onzetra Xsail—Avanir Pharmaceuticals) for the treatment of migraines. The drug is delivered in powder form using the novel Xsail breath-powered delivery device. “The system allows the medication to be deposited deep into the nose, an area rich with blood vessels,” said Roger K. Cady, MD, cofounder and director, Headache Care Center, Springfield, MO, and associate executive chairman, National Headache Foundation.
