At the Walgreens Boots Alliance annual shareholder meeting, held in New York this week, several initiatives were discussed for the coming year. The first initiative is the acquisition of Rite Aid, expected to conclude in the second half of 2016. The deal will add to Walgreens’ network that already dispenses nearly 1 billion prescriptions annually. The second initiative is the partnership with Valeant Pharmaceuticals, a deal the company made official in December. It is expected to increase value for both Walgreens and health care payers.
