Officials from CDC and NIH on Wednesday told members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee that they are working closely with FDA in their response to the Zika virus. CDC Director Tom Frieden reported that his agency has uncovered new evidence supporting the link between Zika and microcephaly. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease, said NIH’s ultimate goal is to develop a vaccine against the disease, something he is optimistic about.
