People with type 2 diabetes are susceptible to cardiovascular and renal events, but health groups are divided about which antihypertensive agent offers optimal protection against associated outcomes. Some—including the American Diabetes Association and American Society of Hypertension/International Society of Hypertension—recommend the use of renin angiotensin system (RAS) blockers, while policies at the National Kidney Foundation and other organizations stipulate otherwise.
