Fake oxycodone, actually made with fentanyl and sold illegally on the street, may be responsible for an uptick in overdose deaths in Ohio. The drugs, bearing the same markings as oxycodone tablets, are coming into the country from China and possibly Mexico. “This is all the more alarming because this is a much more lethal drug being dressed up as another popular drug abused by the same population,” warns Thomas Gilson, medical examiner for Cuyahoga County, pointing to the dangers of buying pharmaceutical drugs from illicit sources.
