New legislation headed to the Senate floor would allow Idaho pharmacists to vaccinate children aged 6 years and older with parental consent. Previously, the age limit was 12 years. Pam Eaton, of the Idaho Retailers Association, said the state is one of the lowest ranked states in vaccination rates and passing the measure could improve health care access for children. One opponent to the legislation is Sen. Sheryl Nuxoll (R-Cottonwood), who expressed concern about whether the consent forms provided sufficient information about possible health risks from immunizations.
