After a prior study displayed the efficacy of eribulin in advanced or metastatic soft-tissue sarcoma, a Phase III study was conducted to compare survival rates with eribulin and dacarbazine. For the research, about 450 patients from 110 study sites in 22 countries were randomized to receive eribulin mesilate or dacarbazine. Patients assigned to eribulin had significantly better survival rates than those taking dacarbazine (median of 13.5 months, compared with 11.5 months). Adverse events were seen in 99% of eribulin patients and 97% of dacarbazine patients.
