FDA has approved a new indication for onabotulinumtoxinA (Botox—Allergan)to treat lower limb spasticity among adults. Six years ago, the product was approved to treat upper limb spasticity in the elbow, wrist, and fingers, and FDA recently approved the product to treat upper limb spasticity in two thumb muscles. “Spasticity is a debilitating condition that can have a significant impact on patients’ lives, compromising their ability to perform a range of daily activities,” said Mitchell Brin, MD, Botox SVP global development and scientific officer.
