FDA warns about bentonite clay 'detox' product

Late last month, FDA released a warning against using Bentonite Me Baby powdered clay because of its potential to elevate lead levels. The alert came after an official at St. Paul, MN-based CLEARCorps noticed the label, which promoted both external and internal use. Red flags went up for Megan Curran de Nieto, who recalled that a family her nonprofit was trying to help lower their blood lead levels had mentioned eating a different brand of clay for its detoxification properties.
