Despite rising rates of immunization over the past 10 years, a new study shows that just 45% of children aged 6–23 months were fully vaccinated against influenza in the 2011–12 season. The rate is significantly higher than the 5% recorded in 2002–03, but that still means many children are not protected against influenza. CDC researchers looked at survey data on vaccination rates for 10 influenza seasons to determine how many children were fully vaccinated as well as variations in coverage.
