Patients with type 2 diabetes could benefit from evolocumab, a PCSK9 inhibitor that has been shown to reduce LDL cholesterol, according to a new study. Researchers analyzed three clinical trials made up of 413 patients with type 2 diabetes and 2,119 without type 2 diabetes. During these trials, they compared evolocumab with a placebo and ezetimibe, a cholesterol drug. The researchers measured concentrations of LDL cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides, lipoprotein(a), and HDL cholesterol at 12 weeks.
