The use of continuous-flow left ventricular assist devices has been associated with increased reports of pump thrombosis, which can lead to pump dysfunction and clinical complications. While anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapies can help prevent pump thrombosis, the optimal regimen is unclear. International Normalized Ratio goals should be determined based on characteristics of the device and patient.
