W. Franklin Evans has served as acting president of S.C. State University since former president Thomas J. Elzey was put on leave in February 2015 and fired the following month. The Orangeburg university’s board of trustees created a presidential search committee last week and will hire an executive search firm to find the school’s 12th president.
