Walgreens pulls back from Theranos

Walgreen Co. is suspending some ties to the blood-testing company Theranos in the wake of a critical regulatory inspection report. The company is temporarily closing its Theranos Wellness Center in Palo Alto, CA, after federal inspectors found “deficient practices” at Theranos’s Newark, CA, lab that “pose immediate jeopardy to patient health and safety.” The Walgreens Boots Alliance unit also said patients’ blood samples from its pharmacies would not for now be sent to Theranos’s Newark lab.
